Join us on 8 March (9:15 am to 4:30 pm) at North Cornelly Public Hall for a full-day sewing workshop where you’ll make the beautiful Lyra Dress (by Tilly and the Buttons). Whether you’re new to dress-making or just want a creative day out, you’ll leave with a finished dress (or well on your way) plus fun, friendly company and plenty of sewing inspiration. All levels welcome. Let’s sew something wonderful together. ✨
Step into a day of creativity, fabric, buttons and community at our one-day sewing workshop on Sunday, 8 March, from 9:15 am to 4:30 pm, hosted at the delightful North Cornelly Public Hall.
This isn’t just a class — it’s an experience. You can choose to work on the gorgeous Lyra Dress pattern from Tilly and the Buttons, or bring along your own dress pattern to make and sew up. Not a dress person? That’s absolutely fine too — you’re welcome to make a blouse instead if you really don’t like dresses.
The workshop is ideal for building garment-making confidence. We’ll cover essential techniques such as facings, seam finishes, fitting adjustments, and closures like invisible zips or button plackets (depending on your chosen project). You’ll leave with a finished garment (or very close to one!), plus the skills and confidence to keep sewing at home.
Our aim is to make sewing fun, accessible and empowering. You’ll be in a friendly, relaxed space surrounded by fellow makers, laughter, chatter (and tea & biscuits!). Whether this is your first time sewing a garment or you’re looking to refresh and refine your skills, we’ll support you every stitch of the way.
What to expect
- A full-day schedule: arrive at 9:15 am for welcome and introductions, stitching begins soon after. We’ll take a lunch break and finish by approximately 4:30 pm.
- Guidance from experienced makers, with step-by-step help on pattern layout, cutting, construction, fitting and finishing — tailored to your chosen project.
- Flexible project choice:
- Use the Lyra Dress pattern (all views welcome — we’ll help you choose what suits your style), or
- Bring your own dress pattern, or
- Make a blouse if that’s more your thing.
- A friendly, supportive atmosphere — no judgement, just making, learning and creativity.
- Bring your sewing machine, a basic sewing kit, and your fabric (plus lining/interfacing if required).
- We’ll provide the Lyra Dress pattern if you don’t already have one, and plenty of advice for any pattern you choose to bring.
It’s your chance to spend a day immersed in sewing, make new friends, and come away proud of something you’ve created. Spaces are limited, so book early to secure your spot and enjoy a joyful day of garment making.
