Step into a day of creativity, fabric, buttons and community at our one-day sewing workshop on Sunday, 8 March, from 9:15 am to 4:30 pm, hosted at the delightful North Cornelly Public Hall.
This isn’t just a class — it’s an experience. We’ll be working on the gorgeous Lyra Dress pattern from Tilly and the Buttons: introduce yourself to the joys of garment making, learn the techniques (facings, seam finishes, invisible zipper or button placket depending on your view), and leave with not only a dress but the confidence and skills to make many more.

Our aim is to make sewing fun, accessible and empowering. You’ll be in a friendly, relaxed space surrounded by fellow makers, laughter, chatter (and tea & biscuits!). Whether this is your first time sewing a dress or you’re looking to refresh your skills, we’ll support you every stitch of the way.

What to expect

  • A full-day schedule: arrive at 9:15 am for welcome and introductions, stitching begins soon after. We’ll take a lunch break and finish by approx. 4:30 pm.
  • Guidance from experienced makers, step-by-step help with pattern layout, cutting, construction, fitting, and finishing.
  • All views of the pattern are welcome (we’ll help choose the one to suit your style).
  • A friendly, supportive atmosphere — no judgement, just making, learning and creativity.
  • Bring your sewing machine, a basic sewing kit, and your fabric (+ lining if required) and we’ll provide the pattern (if you don’t yet have one) and any extra advice you need.

It’s your chance to spend a day immersed in sewing, make new friends, and come away proud of a piece you’ve created. Spaces are limited — so book early to secure your spot and let’s sew the Lyra Dress together with joy and style.
